Time for a break? Get a Kat Kit!
Thank you to those that have ordered a Kat kit - so far I have just made kits for the Rainbow Kat, with the gorgeous, bright and colourful, Kaffe Fassett fabric for the skirt.
Here are the instructions for making them..
Below is an image of the kit kat complete, before the dress is added, and then an image of the legs, arms and head completed - although the head still needs stuffing and then sewing along the neck opening. The arms need sewing up, and I have placed them on the underneath dress piece so you can see why I sew them up on an angle, so that they come out from the body at a slight downwards angle.
I hand sew the complete Kat and then machine stitch the skirt, but it could all be hand stitched.
Thank you to those that have ordered a kit and have put a donation into the Rainbow Jane Just Giving Account in aid of Alzheimer's Society- via the links on the home page. The material cost of the kat is about £15 & P&P adds about another £5.00. (Postage £3.80 & box & packaging materials)
I'm also happy to put together some Liberty print Kat Kits - see the dolls below. The skirts are made from Liberty Fabric @£25 a metre, so the Liberty Kit is a little more expensive to put together.
The kits come complete with stuffing - some kits have felt scraps to use as stuffing, as well as soft toy filling. All have a small sachet of lavender - I like to put some lavender into the stuffing, just to give the Kats a little scent. The only things you need are - needle, threads and scissors.
If you would like a finished Kat, I am taking orders, but they do take me quite a while to sew together, as I do just an hour or so of them in the evening.
