Jewellery to raise funds for Alzheimer's Society
With no Rainbow Jane sessions running now, I thought I'd start creating some jewellery to try and keep raising funds for Alzheimer's Society. If the current situation feels challenging anyway... it must be even more difficult for people also living with Alzheimer's and dementia.
This jewellery uses the morse code for the pattern that the beads are threaded in. I'm threading the message, 'BE STRONG MY FRIEND XX.' But could thread anything, if you want a different message.
Hematite is used for the dashes, and these beads are rectangular in shape. The dots are represented by either amethyst, rose quartz or snowflake obsidian gemstone beads. The bracelets start with a heart charm, and the necklaces come with a crystal charm, so they hung as a crystal hanging, or used as a necklace.
The gemstones are chosen because of their beauty, and also because of their properties.
Hematite is said to reduce stress and is believed to be an energising and revitalising stone.
Amethyst is believed to soothe and calm the mind and raises spirits.
Rose Quartz is the stone of friendship and love and promotes compassion and kindness, while also dispelling negative thoughts.
Snowflake Obsidian is believed to provide balance for the mind, body and soul.
As with everything we do for Rainbow Jane, every penny will go to Alzheimer's Society.
If you would like a piece of jewellery making for yourself or a friend, simply contact me with details of the gemstones you'd like in the item, and make a donation through the Rainbow Jane Just Giving link. (See the top and bottom of the webpage) As a guide - the material cost for items made with rose quartz or snowflake obsidian is about £10, for amethyst the material cost is about £15. Add on a little for postage, if needed.
I'm taking nothing back - my gift to Alzheimer's is the cost of the materials and my time.
