International Dot Day... a chance to get creative together.

International Dot day is based on the book 'The Dot' written by Peter Reynolds.

Here's the video of the story

There's lots of useful information about how the day is celebrated globally here http://www.thedotclub.org/dotday/get-started

I've enjoyed celebrating International Dot Day at school before, but this week I did it with my work colleagues and it was brilliant.

Using MDF tiles and working with acrylic paints, glitter, sequins, buttons, decoupage papers and air drying clay, everyone created their own tiles. We watched the video together and some of us chose to do dots, while others chose their own themes.

We started on the Tuesday evening after work, with some refreshments too! It was so much fun, that we left the crafting materials out and available for Wednesday and Thursday lunch breaks too.

The beauty of the story is that it shows us, that you can start small with creativity and then just let it take you with it.

Here's the final piece we created together. It now hangs on the wall in the office - a reminder of the Dot Day mantra... 'Make your mark, make it matter!'

International Dot day is on September 15th ish! But basically you could use the book to spark creativity at any time.
