Photo Jewellery sessions - find out all about what we'll be doing!
The dates for the first photo jewellery crafting sessions are set now - September 24th and October 15th. The shed will welcome visitiors from 1.00pm to 5.00pm, and crafting is in 2 bookable time slots - 1.00-3.00 or 3.00- 5.00pm. It is essential to book the crafting slots as seating for them is limited to 8 for these.
Why have I chosen photo jewellery? Everyone is welcome, and anyone can enjoy making or recieving photo jewellery. But I felt that for anyone who has a memory impairment, then having a special piece of jewellery with the photo of a loved one one, would be great. The jewellery will be placed in a little gift pouch and I'd suggest that you write a little message about the photo and pop it in the bag.
How does it work? Bring a photo or some photos with you. If it's a really precious one, get it copied and bring the copy; sometimes when we make things, they dont turn out quite as we expected! But that's all part of the fun! The area of the photo that you will use, is roughly the size of a coin. The smallest frames are about the size of a 5p piece and larger ones are about the size of a 2p or 10p.I will guide you through the process. If you're new to jewellery making, I'll help you along the way and if you're already skilled, then you'll be able to run with your ideas. I have a great selection of fittings, beads and charms for you to choose from.
How much will it cost? The Rainbow Jane project is about raising funds for Alzheimers Reasearch. You will pay for the materials you use - this keeps the project sustainable and then give a donation to Alzheimers research. The cost of frame fitting and a chain (silver plated) is about £4.00, so if you gave a donation of £4.00, it would cost you £8.00. Add some crystals and the cost is a little higher. The money we raise is important, but it's more important to me that you enjoy the session and spread the word about what the project is aiming to do. SO please don't worry about the cost - come and be part of Rainbow Jane!
Want to see some examples? Below are a few - you can keep it really simple - just pop the photo in a keyring, or into a frame to hang on a chain. Or you can add beads and get a bit more creative.
